We had a very busy 2014. There were too many things for us to comment on each one. Recent activities were playing at Bodmeyrick Residential Home on Tuesday 16th December. It always gives us great pleasure to play for those who can’t always get out. Here we are playing in the lounge and sitting with one of the residents.
Another photo of us was taken outside Brainwave in Honiton. We played there to raise money for the charity and raised £103.73. we are seen here with Adrian Ball on Banjo and Father Christmas.
The Band justifiably consider their stage sets to be the best in the business. Our Band console is in black with logos and other information in white. The stage is always tidy. Visible wiring is kept to a minimum. All extraneous kit is removed. The Band has a variety of matching outfits. They also dress the part for different events. When necessary they illuminate the stage with light rope, spotlights and floodlights. The PA used is chosen to meet the needs of the event. Most events use just two speakers, but four, or even eight can be used if required. This is not only to give higher volumes of sound but more spread. There are other touches to the PA. Controls can be adjusted whilst playing. The sound of the band is “amplified / acoustic”, rather than electronic. Sometimes the accordion is played through a string bass unit (The Bonger!) this is one of just two in the country. It gives an effect similar to a bass guitar. The band carry back up PA equipment, sufficient to cover any eventuality.
There are also other pieces of kit but wait till you hear them! In short, the band can meet the needs of any venue, from the smallest gig to those with over a thousand people. Depending on the occasion the band may decorate the stage for the event. eg Christmas, Dinner Parties, Seaside, Farm, Pirates and Valentine Parties etc. We aim to please the eye as well as the ear!
We have our own mannequin Jemima. We sometimes dress her up for the occasion.
